Before March 1998 Epilepsy wasn’t something my family or I thought about.  I myself didn’t even know what Epilepsy was.  It didn’t matter to me and didn’t seem like something I needed to give any thought to.   Sure we’d all have empathy if we heard a story, but why would we need to think about something like Epilepsy?  I don’t say all that to shame myself or my family.  I say this because Epilepsy came into our lives unexpected, just like it can come into anyone’s life unexpectedly.  I share my story to educate others, and help others understand how common this chronic neurological battle really is.  I share because I am 1 of the 1 in 26 people living with Epilepsy.  I share because there is no cure and raising awareness gives me hope.    I believe that everyone should have a medical condition that they can passionately raise awareness on, and for me it’s Epilepsy.
