June 11th - June 15th
A week long summer camp at Wisconsin Lions Camp. Camp Phoenix provides a fun, safe, residential camping experience for children ages 8-17 with a primary diagnosis of epilepsy. The week long camp is conducted at Wisconsin Lions Camp in Rosholt, Wisconsin. The camp experience is designed to encourage independence and self-esteem, and provide children with an increased understanding of seizures and epilepsy. During the week campers participate in a variety of activities, build new and lasting relationships, and meet others who may have a similar seizure disorder. Children are encouraged to fully participate in all camp activities. Counselors are present to facilitate small group activities and one on one discussion. There is a medical staff on-site and all staff is fully trained in seizure recognition and first aid.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Wisconsin works in partnership with the Wisconsin Lions Camp to ensure that there is no out of pockets expense for the youth to attend camp. There is a $25 application fee that camp requests, keep in mind this is refundable. All applications are processed via the Lions Camp website and EFW works with camp in the approval processes. We are also attend camp during the week to provide epilepsy centered programs, art therapy, projects and activities.
Youth Connection
Program
Over the last year the Epilepsy Foundation of Wisconsin has worked diligently to launch its expanded youth program. This program was built on the belief that the connections our youth make at camp should be supported with youth centered information and activities all year. The subscription kits come 4 times a year, each with a three month supply of materials. Each kit will have themed months with information, art projects, get together opportunities advocacy opportunities, awareness opportunities and many wonderful items to come!
There is no charge for your youth to participate in this program. The only thing we need from you is to fill out the permission form and mail it or email it back to us.
Please email agajewsky@epilepsywisconsin.org for the form.
While doing the activities we encourage families to share photos and stories with us!
